Spartan II Review
Back in 2010 I decided to have a go at a bit of stop motion animation. I was inspired by the many home made stop motion videos to be found on Youtube. I thought 'I could do that'. So I did. I used the cheapest toy figures I could find in Toys 'R' Us; Halo Spartan II figures, and used them to create characters who watch and discuss films on DVD in the front room of someone's house. Episode 1 sets the scene:
Stop motion is of course an arduous
business but I had a lot of fun making three short films, as well as a
couple of brief 'making of' films, which were easily edited together
from all the footage I captured. I suppose I really wanted to have a go
at editing video footage, and making an amateur
film with your mates trying to act often looks rubbish, so animation
can be used to create less lame results on a shoestring budget
I'd been blogging film reviews for about a year and so animated film reviews seemed like a logical next step. I think Episode 2 is the best of the three as it is the closest I came to realising my 'idea' of 'vision' or whatever.
Episode 3 didn't really work out as well as I'd planned. I spent more time on the editing and the video effects than the actual animation, and some of the gags and references are a bit obscure.
